  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions:

Step 1: Make the Salisbury Steaks

  1. In a large bowl, mix the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
  2. Form the mixture into 4 equal-sized oval patties.
  3. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes per side until browned. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

Step 2: Prepare the Mushroom & Onion Gravy

  1. In the same skillet, add butter and olive oil.
  2. Sauté the onions and mushrooms until softened, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add minced garlic and cook for another minute.
  4. Stir in the flour and cook for 1 minute to remove the raw flour taste.
  5. Slowly pour in the beef broth while stirring, then add Worcestershire sauce, black pepper, salt, and thyme.
  6. Let the gravy simmer for 5-7 minutes until thickened. Return the Salisbury steaks to the skillet and cook for another 5 minutes, spooning the gravy over them.

Step 3: Make the Garlic Mashed Potatoes

  1. Boil the potatoes in salted water until fork-tender, about 15-20 minutes.
  2. Drain and return to the pot.
  3. In a small saucepan, melt butter and sauté the garlic for 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Add the warm milk, then pour the mixture over the potatoes.
  5. Mash the potatoes until smooth, then mix in salt, pepper, and Parmesan cheese (if using).

Step 4: Serve and Enjoy

  1. Plate the mashed potatoes and top with a Salisbury steak.
  2. Generously spoon the mushroom & onion gravy over the steak and potatoes.
  3. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
